Familya: Cupressaceae

Medical Use: Infection (urinariy system), gastrointestinal (stomach, gas), acne

Parts: Dry grinded fruits, young shoots

Side effects:
  • Dont use longer than 4 weeks.
  • Using for long time or in high dose can cause serious problems by kidneys and urinary system.
  • Dont use if you have any kidney disorder.
  • Only use under complete doctor control if you have diabetes (and variety) or low level of potassium.
Drug interaction:
  • Diuretic and diabetic drugs. Causes loss of water.
Warnings:
  • Drink more water when using, specially with tincture and other extract.
  • Dont use longer than 4 weeks

How to Use:

Internaly: 

gastrointestinal (stomach, gas):

Tea(infusion): 2-3g fine grinded dry fruit, add 150ml boiled water, brew for 15-20min, than filter. Drink 2-3 times daily fresh brewd.

Tinctur(1:5, %45 etanol): 3 times a day, 1-2 ml every dose.

Infection (urinariy system):

Grind fruit fine. Start with swilling down five fruits, increase amount every day by one till 15. Than decrease same way till 5 (21days).

Externaly: 

Acne:

Shiver 25g young shoots of tree. Boil 15min. Swab skinn twice a day with it.

The first record of using it is dated to 1550bc. Also an ancient Egypten text speaks of it as teniafuge medicine and a seramonial incense. Refered to Kreober, the name juniperus comes from latin ‘junior: young’ and ‘pario:giving birth/blue?’, because young fruits keeps growing when old ones still on tree.

Its used for long years to produce Gin and other alcoholic drinks.

Might be used by a couple of Native American communitys as a nutrition resource.

Belived in some communitys to be a talisman against bad force.
